Rules:

What types of fics are eligible?

• This site focuses on RARE PAIRINGS ONLY. Stories with primary pairings of the following may not be nominated: Buffy/Spike, Buffy/Angel, Willow/Tara, Willow/Kennedy, Willow/Oz, Xander/Spike, Xander/Angel, Xander/Anya, Xander/Cordelia, Spike/Willow, Spike/Angel, Angel/Cordy, Fred/Wes, Fred/Gunn, Giles/Buffy, Faith/Buffy, Angel/Darla, Spike/Drusilla, Wesley/Lilah


• Threesomes/Moresomes are ONLY allowed in the Threesome/Moresome category. Stories with primary groupings of the following are not allowed: Spike/Buffy/Angel, Spike/Xander/Angel, Spike/Drusilla/Angel.


• All fanfiction must be based on the BtVS/Ats fandom. No RPF or All-Human AU is allowed.


• A WIP (Work-in-Progress) is eligible, but it must have at least three parts, and must have been updated within two months of the beginning of the judging period.


• Crossovers are not allowed.


• Fiction based on the Buffy Season 8 or Angel:AtF comics is allowed, but keep in mind that the judges may not be reading the comics. It would be best that all comics!fics should be understandable to a reader with no comics knowledge.

Who can nominate/be nominated?

• Anyone can make nominations.


• Judges and Mods may be nominated, but they cannot judge a category they've been nominated in.


• Self-nominations are accepted; however, it is preferred that for every time you nominate yourself, you nominate someone else as well. This is not a hard-and-fast rule, and I won't be checking, but the best part of an awards site is spreading the love around.

How many times can I be nominated?

• Authors may be nominated in no more than 9 fiction categories. Authors may be nominated for no more than 2 best author categories.


• Authors can only be nominated once per category.


• A single work of fiction can be nominated in no more than three categories.

Nominations will be discarded if:

• A valid email address or LJ/DW username is not provided.


• It is riddled with spelling, punctuation & grammar errors.


• It is friends-locked or password-protected.


• It is not nominated in the correct category.


• The author declines the nomination.

What else do I need to know?

• Categories must have a minimum of three entries to go to judging/voting. Categories will contain no more than fifteen nominees.


• Nominations will be taken in the order of author acceptance. First come, first served.


• Categories that become full before the nominations process is over may cascade* at the mods's discretion. Categories that are not full at the end of nominations may be collapsed* at the mod's discretion.

About Cascading Categories:
Cascading categories are ones that might be split into further sub-categories, depending on the number and type of nominees. For example: the Best Het category might split into Best Willow/Angel and Best Other Het, again, depending on the number and type of nominees.

About Collapsing Categories:
Collapsing categories is when two similar categories are combined for the sake of having more nominees in one category. For example: the Best Angst and Best Dark categories could be combined into one Best Angst/Dark category, again, depending on the number and type of nominees.

I have a question! Does a fic have to have been written during a specific time? Between 2010-2011, for example? Or can I nominate a fic that was written a few years ago?

And I have another question! :) The fic I'd like to nominate for the Threesome/Moresome category is Angle/Spike/Connor, but there's also mention of Spike/Connor and Angel/Spike. What do you think? Allowed? Not allowed?

I don't know how I missed this one!!!

I think you should use your judgment on this one: Angel/Spike is not allowed as a primary pairing, so...if you think it is the primary, then it isn't...if you feel S/C or the threesome is the primary, then we'll allow it.

Question for Best Rare Pairs Author overall - there was nowhere on the nomination form to list the five relevant fics. How do you nominate for Best Rare Pairs Author overall without that or do I just nominate the person that I mean and you will choose the five relevant fics?

If you nominate someone for Overall Author, we let them know and then they get to choose the fics if they accept. :) We believe the author knows their fic better than anyone and can ultimately make the best decision about what work represents them.
